it's not up to my parents. im paying off the car so i can do whatever i want. but as for warranties i have the 6 year deal. so im not really trying to completely change the car.

subaru can't void my warranty unless they prove to me that what i did cause the failure, even then they can't void the warranty. they can deny the claim for that issue but they have to cover everything else under the warranty.

backfires are awesome but im not about to mess up the car just to get a little fire. i guess you'll see backfire from my car later down the road.

His parents do though. I remember him saying that his parents wouldn't let him do anything to it because it would void the warranty.

they do care but im on the same boat with them. which is why for now im doing exterior. i did get an invidia exhaust but that's all for performance...which isn't much.

the only other thing i would do is get a DP and tune. im gonna be set for a few years.

i was commenting on your statement in which you say they can't void your warranty unless "x" happens, but if that happens they still cant void it.

Let me try and make this very straight to the point.

Running rich is not good.

If you are causing your car's engine to run differently than designed from factory and is throwing a CEL in doing so they are not going to cover it. Anything that could have compromised the integrity of the engine will automatically be the scapegoat for the dealership to say sorry about your bad luck, but we can't cover the cost.

These dealerships are already running tight ships, they will look for any reason to not fix something for free.

Save up your pennies, and one day you can modify that engine to your hearts content, and i'm sure you will get all the fire and popping sounds you could have ever wanted. Until then, don't mess up a perfectly good car.

The easiest and cheapest way to get a scoob to backfire is to replace a factory bypass valve with a VTA system. The air that normally gets recirculated when you let off the throttle is no longer there and so it will naturally run richer than Donald Trump at that specific point, and drive normally the rest of the time, plus, you get the ricey blow off sound to boot

Right, an atmospheric blow off valve. Which is notorious for causing the Subies to run like crap. My buddy had one on his bug eye for literally 2 days before he took it off.
