everything's a give and take. the f23's head is its biggest limit due to flow.

i'll be keeping an eye on eminodagreat's buildup...wink wink. i hope for the best but i see the F head being the limiting factor.

my thing is that its been advertised that the head would just slap and your good to go and have all the advantages of the h22. What people need to understand is that there is some work on the block as well to even get to h22 numbers

Im not lookin for my accord to be super fast....just a little quicker. And a swap to brag about to kids with p.o.s hoopties with coffee cans and airplane wings. Its gonna be my daily driver,i want it streetable. For the last time, H22 is out of the question for me....unless i find a super low price for one then i may reconsider. Or a good price on a H23vtec to make me forget about the F20 lol

oh yeah, i totally agree. its not just a magic bolt on that gives you moar vtecccccccc :lawl: or less if you go non-vtec :lawl:

i would only do it "once i get to that point" where you start to find limits.

have you not read the advice given to you? did you miss the part about most F20Bs being from automatic-equipped cars? as far as i know, there were different cams used on the auto models...giving you 180HP at the crank instead of 200.

you'd then have to source the lude Type S cams from an importing place or hope that someone in the states has a pair. or get a set of H22 cams. then, you would just have a high revving, lower torque h22.

see where this is going? by the time you add up all the costs, an "off the shelf" h22 is cheaper.

h23 VTEC engines are snapped up as soon as they're on the market...especially by the 4th gen prelude guys. i'd hop on one locally if it was cheap enough and let it sit for a few years if i couldn't use it right away.

my previous assessment stands...there's a big disconnect between what you want and making it happen...either get an engine and swap it, or dont.

and people in civics and integras dont give a **** about your accord, by the way. if your goal is to make people jealous, youre in the wrong car until you get to a level like ron, mike, dre, etc.

Edit: looked up wiki...180hp on the auto and 200hp on the manual F20Bs and post updated accordingly.

lol yea i already knew about the automatic f20b's. Im aware of that. Thats why i was lookin at engines that come with the T2T4 tranny.

3 things. if ur looking to make 400whp out of your sr its gunna get pretty pricey...one of my friends has put 8gs into their sr's and are only making 350 with a disco potato if im not mistaken...its either small turbo+med boost+built sr=reliable or go big turbo and go boom...another friend of mine is putting 10g's out on his motor build complete with full race dual ball bearing turbo kit (i think its a 42r) and is looking to make somewhere near 500.

you might wanna think going rb25 with a nice gt35r on low boost...thatll get you near 400 off the bat and you wont even be close to maxing out your turbo...a little lag but extremely fun in a 240

now if youre looking for an h23..i can possibly make a phone call to a buddy of mine who gets them in pretty often..im pretty sure hes got one now

Dude who cares about if they have a TST4 tranny on them...who the hell can you trust over the internet. I wouldnt buy that engine even if I knew 100% it was from a manual. Thats an engine for a lighter car...not a heavy accord.

If your really willing to spend the money, the best engine for our car is the H22 from the EURO R accord. Its rated at 220 hp/164LBS torque STOCK. There is one canadian guy on here who did it, I forgot his name. If you get it with the manual, it comes with LSD. Totally a win win for you,you will have sufficient power at the low end to do your normal daily driving and a huge margin of high end power, considering its stock and NA.

I agree with Ryan, people in integras and civics dont give a **** about us. Because our cars are heavy, I couldnt even beat a stock civic hatch with a 130hp LS engine. How sad is that...

Guys... just so that YOU know..

Horsepower is all about efficiency. The F20b is a better engine because although it has 10 less torque... it has *50* more HP. Its a stronger engine, hands down. Trust me, driven one... raced one... F23... H22... stock... eiishh.. If you have a modded H22 is about the only competition... from a numbers stand point.
