For you younger dudes, make sure you keep your car running too. Always do the regular maintainence yourself. Over time, your parents will, or should, respect the fact that first, it's a learning experience, second, you actually save money by not paying mechanics, and lastly, it's something that is part of you, it's not just to stand out.

a 60 year old guy bent ovr in his scivvies(sp?) and painting his fenders isnt pretty

. But now he's a lot better about it cuz he knows that I just love cars and it's an important hobby to me. But he still doesn't like to see me drop money on something like exhaust. And he won't like it when I get my rims, I have a feeling 

but technically it's their car, and will probably go to my brother if he ever feels the need to get a license. My parents know I have wanted to drive since I was like 7, and know i'm out there washing the car always keeping it clean. My dad has mentioned buying new rims because he knows i've been contemplating it, and wouldn't care much if I modded it. My mom would just tell me to ask my dad because she wouldn't know what it does.
