yea i got a viper 595 a few years ago when i was headin off to freshman year, i got the backup alarm (incase someone cuts my battery power it sirens for like 12 hours or something crazy) and a glass break sensor. the sensor is placed about where my right knee goes under the console and if i tap my keys on the window (any metal-glass contact) it will go off. vipers are the **** and they have so many options

Nice sounds like a good system I'll look into that one!

It really depends on how much money you want to spend. The first recommendation I can give to you is find a good quality, reputable shop that KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Mounting the brain of the system, tucking wires, sleeving, etc is a big part of it. A lot of people stand by DEI (Directed Electronics) because they have been pioneering the industry for some time with Viper, Clifford and many other brands. I myself own one.

The 1 way systems are a great starter system. They will run you about $300 + install. The 2 Way system will be about $400 and up to $1000 plus install. Viper just came out with their 2 way color lcd remotes.

There are many add-ons that all cost extra money. Power roll up/down, glass break sensor (mic that pics up high frequencies), back up battery, additional sirens etc. Just remember that you will never be able to stop a good theif. But you can sure as hell slow him down.

Agreed. The install is more important than how "Fancy" your system is. A two way system never hurts. The DEI SST is really nice, and get the smart start option too.

The smart start system costs $500 alone, without install, provided you don't have a DEI alarm already. If you do they want $300 + 30 a month. That's a ****ing rip off if you as me. Especially if you already have a 2 way system.

dont leave anything in plain sight...thats the best theft deterrent :Smoker:

lock the ski pass-thru, disable the trunk pop...remove the GPS mounting arm...no wires sticking out...no cell phone charger plugged into the outlet...remove the faceplate from the headunit and take it out of the car...etc.

whats the ski pass-through? Yeah before I didnt mind leaving little cords hanging around so now I'll make sure to hide all of them or atleast cover them with something.

no sign of any valuables in the car...plus ive seen people think they were stealthy and left the phone in the cupholder/center console with the cord in plain sight and the little LED lit while charging :lawl:

thieves know that most people will take off their faceplate or GPS unit but leave it in the car. break a window...check the glove box...center console...get out of there if theres an alarm going off.
