Ok so i put new headers on about a week ago and I noticed that they are throwing more heat into the engine bay than before. I looked online for a heat shield but couldn't find one. Has anyone fabricated their own or found a site that sells them?
yea, ive never seen anyone have a heat shield over their aftermarket header. youll be fine without it. plenty of people have an aftermarket header, or headers, and have been fine.
if you wrap em your headers will be more exposed to moisture (rust) and more chances to crack em...I had a set of ceramic coated DC Sports but they cracked. I'm running megan stainless now and so far no problems.
Unfortunately ther eare no heat shields available for aftermarket header(s)
Well, I haven't see any
You can wrap them which will dicipate the heat quicker, but that will cause the header to get extremely hot and may crack right at the bunge.
You can probably use the stock shield, but I don't see a way you can bolt it on
There is no heat shield available. Your only option is to wrap the header with DEI exhaust wrap. You soak it in water or spray as you wrap the header and pull as tight as you can. The only way it would rust is it the header is made from mild steel instead of stainless. You want the header to be hot, it helps the exhaust exit quicker.
leave it alone like everyone else said. theres no need to wrap it with anything. also just dont have any wires near there or something. the rubber will melt
