Help Needed in Orlando/ Deltona

UPDATE

Had to postpone a bit for final exams, but if all goes as planned I'll be driving home a 5spd this Sunday!

Just have a few last minute questions maybe some of you guys can help me with. The first is the difference between the 98-00 and 01-02 ECUs. I've read that they aren't necessarily interchangeable. Could anyone shed some light on this? Would a 98 work at least temporarily in an 02 until I could get a new one?

Also, regarding getting the keys programmed, if I have a 5spd ECU and the key that went along with it, would I be able to use that to start my car once it's swapped in? Or would I have to keep the auto ECU in until I can get to a dealership to get my key reprogrammed, then swap out for the 5spd ECU? Just a bit confused on the order things would have to go in.

Probably better to run with the auto ecu until you can get the 5spd ECU key cut and programmed. Unfortunately you wont have the VTEC function until you have it and I think the engine has a cutoff of 5k. Make sure you get the VIN form the donor car so they can give you the right immobilizer code for your key at the dealership. Dont forget about the fun wiring part too.

Thanks, I'm gonna see if I can get the dealership to program a key upfront since i have an extra one, that way I can get this done all at once.

Any body know about the issue with the years? I've only come across one thread on here where someone had a problem because of the year of their ecu didnt match
