Hood Gap

I bought my 02 Accord coupe about 2 months ago and one thing that's been bugging me ever since I got it was the hood gap. The car was in a minor collision in 2004 and who ever redid the front end did a very pathetic job to say the least. The left side of the hood (looking at the front of the car) was about 3/4 of an inch higher than the fender and the right was about where it should be so I had to move the hood latch and now its even with the fenders on both sides but it has a giant gap where it meets the bumper. The bumper is definitely from a 6.5 Gen and I know the hood is not the original because its red behind the liner instead of black. So my question is do you guys think the gap is caused by it having the bumper of a 6.5 gen and a 6.0 gen hood (I'm not sure what year the hood was from), a sedan bumper on a coupe, or do you think there is something else wrong?

If the vin tag is still on the hood, I'd find out the chassis designation to see if it was a sedan hood.

That bumper only came on 01-02 coupes. And the half gen wouldn't make a difference.

Looks like when a sedan uses a coupe bumper without using a coupe hood too. I'd bet your hood's from a 4 door.

where at on the hood would be the VIN tag be? I can't find it on my 02 or my 98 Accord.

There are adjustable rubber hood height adjustments on either side under the hood on the frame. With the hood up, you can twist them clockwise and/or counterclockwise to adjust the height of the hood when it is closed. It isn't obvious that they do but they actually just sort of screw down and up. They are on the top of the front rail, most of the way out to the left and right, I think (don't have it open in front of me at the moment). Have you tried that already?

The tags don't always hold up, they are just on the underside of the hood. They aren't under the fireblanket or anything so if you don't see a tag on the underside of the hood then it probably fell off.

Clean up a section of the red paint on the hood and post a photo. Coupes and sedans had separate shades of red, so with a good sample of the color on yours, maybe we can confirm.

I have already adjusted those and the latch shortly after getting the car to get the hood lined up with the fenders.

It turns out is is painted under the firemat thingy so this is the biggest section of red I could find.

Another question, if I replace the hood with one from a coupe that had a V6 would the hydraulic hood support things that the V6s have bolt right on or would I have to modify something under the hood for them to work?
