you mean the cardboard cover on the rear deck?

well, theres 2 screws under each speaker grille towards the rear of the car and the center seat belt is self-explanatory. the ring around the seat lock pops straight up. the center brake lamp is held on by 2 "prongs" underneath (which you'll break at least 1 of) then that pulls kind of "up and forward" as youre kneeling in the back seat. oh, unplug it first :lawl: then you'll need to remove the c-pillar garnishes which pull straight out (and you'll probably break a clip or three in the process).

after that, it depends what you want to do...lay in the trunk and pop all the clips from underneath, or stick your arm through the speaker holes and pull up from the top. dont get too eager and pull up hard...that thing is just cardboard and it'll crease.

Cool I'll try that. I'm gonna put more sound deadening on the top side. I've already done the bottom side.

Thanks Ryan!!!

Is one of those ways sticking weather stripping between the deck and the rear windshield?

not...exactly...but if the cardboard is rattling against the metal, we need to figure out if the metal is moving or the cardboard is moving.

if its just the deck cover, then use some closed-cell foam to isolate the two. one place it really rattles is behind that plastic trim piece which goes from one rear strut tower to the other...when you have the seat down. that piece and the deck cover both rattle right there :squintrun:

i think whats happening is when the bass is going the cardboard piece is hitting the metal in the very corners of the rear winshield.

when i hold down the corners of the cardboard the noise goes away.

also the rear brake light at times. i just plan on using my extra damplifier pro and doing what i can.

do you guys have any suggestions?

llp (or any kind of Mass Loaded Vinyl) is a barrier...you need a panel isolator. damplifier is a mass loader/vibration reducer, but it needs to be attached to that which is vibrating. i got a feeling it wont stick to cardboard and might seep through :ugh:

is it only vibrating in the corners? i'd probably shove something up in there to keep the deck closer to the windshield since keeping it "down" is going to be difficult...especially when adding more material in there.

quieting the car by an appreciable factor is going to take a lot of time and money...

i need to figure out this headliner vibration one of these days :ughrun:
