this really helps! the engine does function with the accord's ecu, but runs rough when rpm hits 3000 rpm. the ecu which i bought with the engine has the immobilizer, thats why i said it did not help. so i believe the p13-a12 will get the engine running judging by the posts. will keep you all informed as to what happens.

This isn't anything new.

Read Drift and Dreman's H22 swap threads. They used the same ECU.

Of course the accord ecu will not run the h22 correct. I dunno why anyone would try it, although it seems many do. STOP trying to use an F23 ECU to run an H22! :eusa_wall:

Im a little late on this but When i did my h22a swap I had the same problem
My solution was
-Hondata s300
-RyWire obd2b to obd1 wire harness
-New obd1 prelude distributor
-any 92-95 prelude h22 ecu
P.S the 96 have obd2 w/o immobilzer but downside is that its a tad rare + expensive for that reason + I wanted to tune my car so I just went with the hondata.
Only problem if you do this inspection, I have my own way aorund it but idk what your situation is. hope this helps!

Hey, so this just occurred to me, but an immobilizer chip should be the only thing ID tagged to your key so shouldn't you be able to transplant the chip from your old ecu to the new one if you are good enough at soldering?

Bought a Doctronic Immobilizer Chip for my P5M Ecu for an H22A motor.

Replacing this one:

This should allow you to stay OBD2 and pass emissions, and start up fine. Hopefully it works. Crossing my fingers.

FYI I've done the H22 swap and here what I did.

spec:
Accord 98 Sedan, 4 cyl
H22A4 From a 98 Prelude

You have 4 plug and play options

#1: OBD1 P13 or P28 chipped ECU with conversion harness (OBD2B -> OBD1)
this is the cheapest option, ECU is about 100$ and conversion harness about 30$

#2: Find a P13-A12 ECU from a 96 Prelude + conversion harness (OBD2B -> OBD2A)
somewhat more expensive, if you can find the ECU they usually run about 200$+, the conversion harness for some reason is expensive too, about 100$, however they are quite easy to make and cost about 20$ in parts. ---this is the option I went with---

#3- Get a standard H22 ECU OBD2A + conversion harness and use get the immobilizer chip from doctronics.
if I had 50$ laying around I'd try this one, I have an extra 98 ECU laying around, it's also from an automatic so I could try the manual to auto ecu convresion

#4- Get a standard H22 ECU OBD2A + conversion harness and have it reprogrammed at the dealer to use your keys
not sure how much this option costs... but I'm sure it's expensive and if the dealer is anything like the Honda dealers around here, once you show up with something that's not "stock" they back off really quick and say they don't know how to make it work

as a side note, if you have access to a good tuner, option #1 would yeild the best results.
