Hello all,

New to forum. But been reading quite a bit. I've always owned hondas/acuras since the day i got my first car. 1987 Acura Integra RS.

Anyhow, i'm getting ready to pick up a 6th gen and thought that by getting a 4banger auto, this would reduce the risk of tranny problems (i've owned two 5th gen and never had any issue). It's an 02 with 221k miles. After driving it, it shifts really smooth so I thought it should be ok.....then after reading up on the forums, i'm a bit worried since it seems to be just automatics in general and not just the 5sp V6.

I haven't picked the car up yet, and wondering if I should not even consider this car if the tranny will fail on me in the near future.

thank you all,

-D

First off, there is no such thing as a 5spd V6 for the 6th gen... unless you build one. All the OEM V6 6th gens are autotragic. Best to get a manual or get an auto and convert it to a manual 6speed.

Also, search is your friend.

And, Welcome to 6GA!

What i meant was a 5spd automatic V6. I know there is no 5spd manual for V6. Is that not the right term? Didn't mean to make it sound like 5spd manual.

And yeah..i've been reading and searching and that's what is worrying me on the automatics.

And thanks,

I'd look for a 5spd if you want a 4cyl.

There are reliable autos out there (both 4cyl and V6), and if you find a solid one and keep up with the regular maintenance, and not drive like a retard, then there is a good chance you will be fine.

Whereabouts in Ohio are you?

yeah...that's what i'm gathering. the one i'm looking at drives very well and it shifts like it had 20k miles. and the price is right, so that's a driving factor.

i'm in Columbus.
