As you know, I recently installed focal component speakers in the front.
Now it's time to upgrade the rear speakers and I'm a little confused.

The focals sound amazing. I need something for the rear that will complement the sound or better yet, complete the sound.

I'm pretty sure I need to stay away from three way rear speakers ( I guess)
Because now with the tweeters up front it might sound too "high".

What do you guys suggest!!!!!!!!!!:jealousbow:

to be honest, i havent had rear speakers for 3 years now and i wouldnt have it any other way.

that said...you have to be sure to turn em down so the sound isn't "pulled" to the rear of the car. knowing this...it doesnt make a ton of sense to get expensive rear fills. also keep in mind the 6x9s will add extra midbass (unless you separately amp them and adjust the crossovers) further pulling the sound back. even the stock speakers did this...the reason i took them out. that...and you get 2 free ports into the cabin :whip_001:

so i guess my advice is...look at 6x9 adapter options. if it were me, i'd try to fit a similar set of focal 5 1/4" components back there. they dont have to be expensive...they could be the "entry level" components. good luck to you

edit: thinking about it...i might not even install the rear tweeters since they *might* be too "splashy" off the rear windshield...

So it wouldn't matter if they came with tweeters. Wouldn't be to much 'HIGH".
Aside from components, Would you recommend 3 way or 2 way Speakers? Maybe some 6.5 with adapters?

BTW, thanks for the info. At least I know I don't have to kill my wallet......

id probably go with 2 ways for cheapness, and the fact that you have good speakers up front where it counts. having said that, i took out a cheap pair of 6.5 coax's this last week and put in a good component set...and wowowow...what a difference. definitely listen to any speakers before purchasing if you can, cause those infinity "reference" speakers were way too harsh with the highs and have a HUGE sibilance issue (loud S sounds).

i'm not sure how 6.5s would fit in a 6" space without too much modding :lawl:

others may have a different opinion...but...to me, id go with a smaller speaker like a 5 1/4" or even a 4x6"...the bass from the rear speakers is a bad thing, imo...

i read this thread and thought about doing 6.5 components all the way around now. Probably some MB quartz. I saw some 6x9 to 6.5 adapters on ebay and will probably go with those. hopefully theyll sound good.

what i meant was...a 6 1/2" speaker will be a tight fit where the 6x9 opening is 6"...speakers like mb quart are "euro sized" meaning they're more like 6 3/4".

comparing my MB's to stock is ridiculous since they're both 6 1/2s :run:
