personally i love having some nice speakers in the back. its easy to adjust them where they don't over power the front ones. I have components up front and 3 way 6x9s in the back and i think it sounds amazing. Granted i have them all hooked up to an amp, im not sure if you are doing that or not. and the 6x9s have a crossover too.

Ive never heard a system that i enjoyed that only had front speakers, i know a lot of people swear by it, but its never been my taste. I agree that the rear speakers are less important though, but you shouldnt skimp out on them completely.

Some people swear by rear fill and some want all the sound coming from up front like a true sound stage. It all depends on your taste. If you think rear fill will sound good then I suggest you get some decent coaxils in the rear. If you tune them right they will blend right in like they aren't even there.

6x9s aren't that bad. They simply have phasing problems because they are trying to do the work of 3 different speakers in one without a xover.

i've heard buying the same brand and type for the front and rear helps the speakers sound better together... i dont have rear speakers either (sealed up the rear dash). if i did itd probably be 6.5 or 5.25 tho

are you ever looking into a sub? if you have future plans to buy one... forget the rear fills
other then that... just go with some cheap pioneer 2ways... it'll be more then enough... dont spend money on those expensive useless 3 or 4 way 6x9s... there all marketing scams to make buyers think there getting more for their money

I put 6.5" 2-ways in my rear deck because I still wanted some type of "port" setup for the subs.

I probably should have gone with a component system for the rear, and probably will one day, but putting 6.5" instead of 6x9's = WIN.

I'm taking out my rear speakers and using the holes through the rear deck and removing the ski door to port the sub pressure into the cabin.

Putting components, coaxils etc. in the rear is up to you. It's my opinion to put the focus to the front. If they don't sound right up front .... fix the FRONT. You might have to dampen the doors, use time alignment, upgrade drivers, raise the stage etc. Once you are satisfied with the front THEN see if your tastes like rear fill.

infinitys set or kenwood set for front and rears, and one 12" sub is perfect. i wouldnt go with 2 12" since our car are heavy already
