best bet is to get full coverage because it covers your entire car.
god forbid you get into a wreck or your car gets stolen, your insurance company should reinstate you for the current value of your car or a little bit under.
i remember wrecking an Infiniti I30 that i got for $7000 and then receiving a check for well over $13,xxx because of the value of the car.

but yeah, u're basically adding value to ur vehicle. Since ur premium is based on ur car value and driving record, adding value to ur car will def increase ur premium.. call ur insurance cos all companies have different policies regarding aftermarket mods

you could get a stated value policy which states what value you think the car should be worth and you pay a premium based off that. there are also endorsements that you can get on your policy for stereo equipment. the reason you'd want that is anything that is not installed perminatly is not normally covered. subs, and amps are not normally covered, but your deck is.

hey my insurance covered me when i got into a wreck. I just got regular full coverage and pay like 160 a month. I told my insurance agent that i had aftermarket stuff when i was modding my car and they didn't even say nothing because it depends usually on the appraisal people to determine how much they should give you when u get into an accident. And if the appraisal people know about mods such as lips and bodykits they will give you an enough amount to replace what you lost. If they dont, i think you can get a sub appraisal which you can ask the shop you going to, to ask for you. My kar got two insurance claim on it last year. I had a hit and run and another 1 was damage caused by the car shop. The shop caught on fire and I had smoke damage in my interior. They was some skum bags though they try to lie to my insurance appraisal that my car paint was worth over 15k so they can keep most of my money and they said to fix my whole kar would cost over 20k, so the insurance wanted to total my kar. I was like hell no the engines and body is still fine. So i took an offer of 11k i had my mods and paint replace with new custom interior for about 4k.....and still spending it on some more parts and my wedding too

Well I already have full coverage on my car, should that be good enough?
I still feel like I should just ask. I just don't want to ask and have them make up something to charge me for when full coverage already covered the modifications. You know how people are these days.

If you're afraid of that, simply tell them you have been thinking of doing some modifications to your car and were wondering what their policy is on covering aftermarket products installed on the car. That way you can get your answers without disclosing what you already have.

I have full coverage on my car, our agent has just said as long as I have pictures to document mods to my car, and can provide a receipt or a price quote from a website or whatever stating what I paid (or the value) of the modification, that it will be covered. I don't have to disclose every mod I've done to my insurance company, I just have to have it documented that it was actually on the car in case it ever comes up. They covered me in the past when I hit a raccoon and tore off the complete front end of my body kit back in the day.

But, its going to depend on your insurance company, and even in the same insurance company I'm sure it could still boil down to your agent and how strictly they follow the rules
