Ok I came across this engine and tranny from and 03 accord v6 and since my car is no longer running I felt this may be a chance for me to upgrade while fix it. Like I said the engine I got came from a 72,xxx mile 2003 honda accord v6 even though im not getting the 6 speed i can live with the autotragic transmission for a lil while. However I was wondering what else I may need other than engine mounts and the ecu situation. I would really like to know if the ecu for a j30a1 work for my j30a4 auto and if not what else will i need. This will not be a fail thread cause I already have the motor and the tranny so help me out 6th gen community

I pulled my engine about a few weeks ago and now I finally have the long awaited j32 i been looking for. This is not going to be an extensive build like mike's or money pit but a slow but usable build. My car has been parked since the end of may because of the tranny that i pushed beyond it expiration date so I really missed it all this time. So instead of saving up all the money at once i decided to build up on the engine as i go using the j32a2 as my foundation. I have minor question but I am pretty much doin all this myself with a couple of friends so if there is anything else I need to know I am open for suggestions.

Re: J30a4 swap no bs

Well I wouldn't call the 7th gen accord AT autotragic, it's a much stronger tranny then the 6th gen one.
Are you going to d the swap yourself?

Check the write-up that NVA-AV6 posted on V6P. He has a complete list of all that is needed for the J-Series swaps.

Re: J30a4 swap no bs

I have limited knowledge on that swap but I did a bit of research a while ago. Quoting NVA-AV6 from V6P :

''Trying to put a J30A4/5 into a 6th gen would be a wireing hell, all of the senors are different and as mentioned the 7th gen engine is throttle by wire. Could this be done, sure mechanically it would just bolt right up, no issues at all, but to run the engine you would need the 7th gen ignition, ecu, all harnesses,oh and lets not forget that the 7th gen environment controls, ABS, navi are also all tied into the ecu, in other words go buy a 7th gen....''

you do realize that the navis are not included in every v6 accord 7th gen it sounds like with the ecu you are saying that i may have some issues tying it into the 6th components

J, as I suggested, check with Paul, on V6P, because he may be able to suggest something for you to make it work, since you've already gone through the trouble of getting the parts/engine.
