if you get radically different sound from headunits, either one was bad or you did something wrong...

i went from 2v outs to 6.5v, and yeah, the amps sounded better with the gains down further :lawl: but thats the thing...the preout voltage does make a difference. i meant that if someone swaps headunits and can't get them to sound alike, they did something wrong--since most quality headunits are the same.

another thing to think about is the head unit... had a pioneer h/u sounded good and hit hard when i wanted it to, then i tried out an alpine h/u and i didnt get the bass like i did from my pioneer, so i put it back in... u prolly already kno, but just puttin it out there, the design of ur box also helps out with the bass...

just different pre amp voltage rating son each headunit. You just need to reset your gains.

neither imo
+1!

I'd do Audioque, RE, or if you can get it cheap JL w6 subs.

AQ and REs newer than 2005 are in the same league as kicker...trade good sound for loud.

oh, and they're just a couple more "me too" china brands...

My 2 aq sdc2.5 10s sound great to me. I've had jl and kicker and I think I like the aq better. Hits the lows reallly hard and clean and still has a good range of frequency.
