the Pico Project is a truly mobile video device that slides easily into a pocket. We had time to play with a prototype (in the video below) and it was incredibly light in hand; it weighed about as much as a cell phone. In fact, the final production model is going to match the iPhone’s dimensions almost dead-on.

On a side note.... I remember seeing the Morimoto projectors in person a few months ago in a Civic in my neighborhood.

Here are my thoughts on the comparison between his Morimoto h1 and my OEM Retro.

Pros
- Fantastic Sharp cutoff with a nice hue to color thoughout the beam
- No cutting, easy DIY. Can be completed in a day and no cure time for the housing
- Solid quality, and light weight
- Cheap

Cons
- Width of beam is 1/2 of OEM retros
- Hot Spot in certain areas, mostly concentrated in the front of the beam

So the width isn't as great as OEM, but you get the cutoff in return. I think this is the intermediary upgrade between a HID Retrokit & HID Retrofit.

I got these Morimotos H1 in my headlights and I agree with all your Pros. As for your comment on the width of the beam, I have to disagree. I would say that these as on-par with most OEM HID projectors. There are some hotspots though (but not that bad)

Comparing S2K retros to Mini H1s? That's like comparing BluRays to DVDs.

In cost alone, there is no comparison. At about $200 for just the projectors with the clear lens, the S2K's width and output had better outperform the Mini H1, which run for $125.

Performance-wise, the S2K is, without a doubt, the better performer. The width of the beam is wider (though I'm sure it's not twice as wide, that seems like a stretch) and there is a more visibly concentrated beam toward the center. This is due to how the projector sits in relation to the trim in the headlight. I'm sure the S2K has the better cutoff in both color and sharpness as well. Let's not forget though, the Mini H1s are bi-xenon, while the S2Ks are not.

Btw, this is far from an "intermediary upgrade."
S2K > Mini H1 > TSX > HID PnP kit
Are you saying that the TSX retro isn't a real retrofit? ;)

EDIT: I just re-read your post. I think I might be misunderstanding what an HID "retrokit" is. I originally thought you meant plug and play kit, but I'm guessing you meant something different?

I definitely agree about the hot spots. You can notice it in with the bi-xenon:

But IMO the cut-off is pretty nice:

Ofnir107, seem your left and right alignment are a bit off (too close together), but nice cut off!
