Since we are discusing exhausts, what is the opinion of replacing a stock muffler with a cl-s muffler. Would it sound bad w/ the stock piping/resonator?

just paint it black, then you cant see it. thats what i did, haha.

could i just use spray paint???
but...
the vibrant mufflers are just sweet, the tip is 3" which is perfect (not too big, not too small), our tips look like a broken tree branch, and they're cheap.

k guys heres the deal. wuts the difference between a catback that u buy from a site and a custom 2.25 piping with just the muffler. which route would be cheaper and will the outcome be the same? also wut does a catback have that a custom piping doesnt? thx for helping me clear things up cuz im planning on getting an exhaust soon.

I did a custom 2.25 piping. Did it in san jose for $75. I believe catback is just same thing as a custom pipe. I took the custom route and kept my stock muffler.

Custom exhaust on the other had... its alot louder than the catback because most shops dont offer resonators or other noise baffeling matieral... the custom WS2 on my cousins accord is alot louder than my greddy exhaust

That's a COMPLETELY subjective topic. The fact is most shops DO offer resonators, but as in most cases with Honda's, some kid brings his car in with a flowmaster/magnaflow muffler and wants it installed with straight 2.5" piping all the way back thinking they're gonna get 30hp by opening it up. Of course, it's gonna sound like ****, be loud as hell, have crush bends, untuned, and do nothing but make the car extremely obnoxious and still slow.

:rice:

Catback - prebent mandrel piping. Take it out of the box..bolt it on. Comes with everything you need.

Custom - pick your muffler/resonator/shop to put it together. Weld on hangers, flanges, supply gaskets and bolts. It's hard to find a shop that can/will do mandrel bending and if you do, you're gonna pay for it. Most shops just use crush bent piping.

Not much else to it.

 Ordered my mandrel bent SS piping from Kteller, and welded it myself.

custom exhaust is affordable. you just buy a muffler and resonator and ask for the shop to do whatever size piping you want. youre not gonna get any huge power gains from exhaust anyway, youll prolly even lose some tq, haha, so you dont need an all out pre-fabbed system.....especially you lemon, who just wants it for the look.

If only we could all tune...

i hate the way our mufflers look, if i were to just replace the stock muffler with a stealth vibrant one...would it sound/feel like ****, or is it, if you replace the muffler, you replace the rest?

It wouldn't make a bit of difference performance wise. If you have otherwise stock exhaust, it will sound effing great because the small pipe diameter, cat, and resonator quiets it down so much already. I loved the sound of the stock exhaust with just the axle-back removed. Has a sexy growl.

My exhaust on the Galant is a 3-inch standard bent setup. With a Magnaflow cat and a single resonator, I think it sounds amazing.
