to just turbo the F but I read up on that and after turbo they normal just blow up.
That's not true - whoever gave you that information most likely cheaped out on their build and failed at doing it correctly.
How do you feel about the spoiler?..
If your goal is 400 horses, there's no 'best bang for your buck' option, regardless of whether you're using a F-series, H-series, etc.. You will need some serious money. I don't think anyone has made that here with a 4-cyl
yet. It's not just as easy as plug and play to crank out HP in these motors, bolt-ons don't do crap, and you need a serious built engine to make that whp output, even with a turbo. If you want a reliable turbo F23, boost 6-7 psi (CORRECTLY!!!) and have yourself a reliable DD on a stock engine, around 200-250whp, depending on your setup and tune. If you want 400hp, be ready to build a full racing engine, including all internal components and block reinforcement. F&H 23's aren't powerhouses yo!
The prices the shop gave me are: complete swap (engine, components, and tranny) is about 2700. So 3k.Engine has 25 to 35k miles on it, and about 4 to 5k for install. So Im figuring 7 to 8k. I got a guy helping me out though so hopefully no more than 7500. Gona tell them to put a new header and high flow cat on too. Also need a exhaust leak welded. But I'm gona shop around now. So far a lot of you guys are telling me H23 is no good lol. So I dont know what Im doing. I priced a K swap and that came to like 12k, lol, so thats out. This sucks though, I did research and H23 sounded good. Guys at the shop said that's what they normally see dropped in to these cars.
What's normally (most often) swapped into these cars is the H22A from the Prelude. I thought you were going to be doing the swap and labor yourself, but building the engine beforehand. If you are having it done for you and you want 400whp, then the 12k for a K-swap sounds cheap compared to what it would cost for everything to be done for you and achieve your result using the other methods..(components, full engine build, professional installation, tune, etc..)
