i think i saw some guy do this on a movie about street racing....remember that old one with the white turbo integra...racing that fox body mustang....he'd back up then rev....dropping the clutch in first to get it to break the tires loose and do a burnout....i dunno why...maybe to get a 2 wheel burnout cause of no LSD?

About a year ago, I was at the local 1/8th mile.
While staging, I was preloading the car. I didn't brake enough, and rolled slightly past the staging lines, so I put it in reverse and began to back up. I didn't notice that the car in the other lane (who I thought was taking their time in the water box) had quickly staged beside me. So of course as soon as I noticed this, the lights dropped, and since we were running heads up, I instinctively hit the gas and began feathering the clutch, only to realize I was still in reverse. DOH! Only went back about 5 feet before I got it into first and launched again. Had a 1.7r/t IIRC, but still managed a 10.1 sec pass.
