Ah... still need to use a real flash... I have a few ideas, I think I could make a fairly bright ring"light" for under 50... probably won't flash though.

The ABR800 wasn't that expensive really... $400. I'd recommend it... it's extremely powerful and can be stopped down a lot and it has a camera holder and tripod connector and lightstand connecter and comes with a mini diffuser and a floor bracket.

Oh and Eric, I won't have the Accord down there unless plans change and I chauffer everyone. I'm an IT guy for my dad's meeting planning company and there's a meeting down there that we're in charge of. I have to be there for IT support. haha

I made a DIY beauty dish, and it was simple...

Click the picture for a link to the tutorial... I have yet to use it though.

Also, here's a picture from the park with my Sigma 28mm which is now not my newest lens ;) even though it's only a month old.

What camera/lens? Looks like you might have been closer than the minimum focus distance. You can tell that they are back-focused.

outdoor strobism with simple setup... sb-600 camera right and at same height as face shot into DIY 14" beauty dish...

The light falloff near the bottom is on purpose... it kinda makes a gradient from light to dark, and it's because I was using a Tokina 12-24mm and a small beauty dish.

The sun was used as rim/back lighting for this whole shoot.
