The 28mm wide end is a complete waste on a crop (IMO). And it costs 3x as much for lower image quality. IS and USM and added reach are nice, but if you want a general purpose lens that is sharp, I'd save my money and get the 18-55 IS.

Well, I got the 28-135 with my camera, I like the reach and the USM, the build of it is nicer. I don't think that the image quality is all that bad. The 18-55 IS that I got more recently is good as well, but the reach isn't all that great. I'm thinking of replacing it with the 17-85 IS, and maybe selling my 28-135 for something longer since I don't find myself using it.

The only reason why I like the 28-135 is because it isn't an EF-S lens like the 18-55 and the 17-85, and that it has more range than the 18-55 IS. Until I got that lens, 28mm was my wide for a long while.

Hmm... new owner of the 17-85..

It was in MINT condition and the guy seemed cool so I was fine paying the $325 for it.

He had like 4 other lenses and a 40D... said he was trying to go full frame... meh

Mirror lens. Piece of crap. Wouldn't even use it if it was free.

On the other hand the 75-300's are probably Canon's WORST lenses.

I'd say neither of those are worth the money ...at all.

Get the 55-250 IS or get nothing, IMO. Just crop.
