i never handled dslr before, but with my bridge camera, i always use lowest iso setting possible....

i try to stay small apperature size, and reasonable shutter speed....and depending on shutter speed, i adjust apperature size a bit...

is that what shutter speed priority mode does?

nice pix henry

Shutter Priority (Tv or S): You pick the shutter speed, camera picks the aperture for correct exposure.

Aperture Priority (Av or A): You pick the aperture, camera picks the shutter speed for correct exposure.

Manual (M): You have to choose both aperture and shutter speed for the amount of exposure you want.

The problem he's having with his pics is color related, did you have your white balance on auto? Next time try Tungsten, that is a waaay cooler WB and will tone down all that red/orange.
