so you basically just sand it down with like 2000 grit n then compound and polish it?

nah, you gotta start of with a real low grit sandpaper and work your way up the grits, getting finer and finer. you can stop at 2000, or you can go higher....but you prolly wouldnt need to.

but yea, sand it and then some metal polish and youre good to go. but it takes a while, def not something you could do in a day.

What he said, unless you need to justify to yourself the cost then go ahead and try it, it wont come out perfect unless its professionally done which most cant do.
