Poly lip paint question

I've been thinking about saving up for a WW lip kit for my car. But had one question about when painting it. I know it would be best for me to send it to a paint shop and have them paint it with a flex additive. But it is probably alot of money. So how bad will a poly lip chip if no flex is added to the paint?

Beware that the paint will be a lot more susceptible to spider web cracks. Trust me. Let the body shop do it right

Based on my experience with a polyurethane lip, they still chip pretty easily if you just do a rattlecan job. Duplicolor paint, clear coat, and flexible bumper coating was used on mine. http://duplicolor.com/products/bumperCoating/

I thought with the flex coating it would hold up well, but it wasn't too long before it slowly started chipping everywhere. Then again, I'm kinda low and I have a daily commute of about 65 miles, mostly highway.

I plan on just giving it to a professional shop to do it right.

Ill just try to get a rough quote before I buy the lip kit, and just save up the full amount and go at it that way.

If it were me I'd have a paint shop mix me up some paint matched rattle cans, spray light even coats, clear them. They're gonna crack, not if but when. Good luck :peace:

If theyre gonna crack no matter what then I should just save the cash and do a rattle can job in the first place.

Yeah however depends on how well the prep job also. You could go quite awhile without crack, but being low and your front lip flexing It's quite possible for quick cracks. I am going off of what my poly lips have done in the past and the better the prep the better the better the durability

Poly lip + Paint = Disaster...........just paint it your self and wait for it to start cracking then paint it again instead of paying a pro to it. its gonna crack either way save urself some money

I am not sure of who or how is what painted. But I have seen "BeeDizzle"'s car a couple times this year. And from what I have seen his paint isn't too too bad on it. Cracks, chips here and there. Nothing major. I would have to just keep a few rattle cans handy.
