Whats up with all the zip-ties on your heat sink?

Because I run it without a body most of the time and when you flip it on pavement, it will wear down/break the zip ties before the heat sink/cylinder head. The roll bar thingy doesnt protect all that much... ive ripped numerous antennae off and scratch the heat sink plenty. The stock engine had a much smaller heat sink and wouldnt get near the ground if flipped.

I love it when they flip with no body...haha but my rs4 has never really been a looker so i never worried about scratches and stuff

Oh I dont worry about that sh!t at all, its more about not shearing off the heat sink because theyre a good $50 to replace. I sunk $1200 into the car and so far nothing major has broken and i beat the crap out of it. I have a Micro RS4 too with a carbon fiber chassis, that thing is beat up too.

But i need to take the time to reassemble the truck... it still needs to be cleaned from a day at the baseball diamond lol

they sell lexan paint (spellcheck) when it dries it doesnt crack, it will hold up to wall hits etc.


do light coats of paint, start with the hard areas, like the tabs where the spoiler goes, and the headlights, work along the sides and then up and down the hood/roof/trunk.

just dont drown the paint on because it will run and blotch up.

just keep adding coats after a few minutes so it dries. i usually keep adding til i cant see through the body anymore when holding it up to light or something (usually the sun because im outside painting it)


after it dries "back" it up with a lighter color.. like silver or something, makes the paint "pop" more

I have mine ready to go body/wheels and all looks almost exactly like my car, i just wont drive it caz we have been getting a LOT of snow in NY this season

Most name brand spray paint is compatible with Lexan (aka polycarbonate). If you're really unsure, 99% of hobby stores sell Tamiya spray paint, which will work.

Also, backing the color will definitely make it pop. Gray, black, silver, white are all good choices to go behind a variety of colors. I have a 1/18th scale M3 body painted dark gray metallic with the "chrome" paint backing and it looks great, although chrome paint is very, very runny.

Holding the body up to light is a must, the paint will be thicker in some areas and looks great. Hold it up to the light and then you can see where creases in the body didn't get a lot of paint (trunk, fenders, etc.)

Don't forget to peel the overspray film from the body when you're done!
