i am thinking of getting new set of headlight(most likely TYC black housing projector) with hid kit from xenon eye for 155 shipped.

and i am wondering if i would encounter this problem below.

some said it is due to projector headlight, so go with stock headlight hosing with hid kit, or some said that it looks like hid kit has hot spots...

i did some searches, but couldnt find answers nor i am highly educated for HID matters.... :(

those pictures above is tyc projector with hid kit(i dont know what brand) on a 5th gen.

any inputs are welcomed. thx alot in advance.

P.S. if you want those pix to be removed, nemo619, let me know.

If I were to buy an aftermarket projector housing for HID's it would be TYC. Some people have success with TYC's and HID, some people don't. I do hear that TYC's give off a lot of glare. The projectors in TYC's are geared towards Halogen bulbs (less lumens) so they use a lower quality projector than what you'd find for HID applications. The stock 6th gen headlamps actually have great optics. The cut-off is decent for a halogen housing, the light spread is also pretty good. You can get away with an HID kit in them as long as you aim them correctly. A lot of people don't do it because of the glare but our headlamps actually don't produce near as much glare as other OEM headlamps would. So if you get an HID kit in OEM's just aim them properly and stick to a reasonable kelvin (4200K-6000K) which will also help reduce glare since you're not into blues and violets.

Another tip is Eyelids can actually help reduce glare and allow you to adjust your HID's a little higher than normal. (depending on the eyelid)

You can use the pictures. The HID kit in the photo was made by McCULLOCH. It was there H1 kit.

I'm going to say about 4300K..from the looks of the pictures anyway. Might be 6000K hard to tell with the lens color

hmm....

so if i do happened to get good tyc projector + hid kit at that temp. color, that much of glare is ought to be there......i really dont want to use my stock headlight housing, because after doing diy for black hosing, i broke the little gear for light adjustment, couldnt seal it right back up so fitment isnt perfect now, and looks a bit dirty.....

i really like how projector looks.....maybe i should reconsider getting hid kits...

i want one tho.....:(

The HID kit won't have near as much to do with glare as the projectors do. The glare/hot sports and shabby cut off you see above in them pictures is do to the projectors not the HID kit.

i want hid no matter what.....so im stuck in the deilema here....:(:(:(

Not to discourage you, but it is not a definite that your projectors will turn out like the picture I posted. I say go ahead and try it out. I would recommend TYC projetor headlights. They seem to be better. Even if the TYC projector and HID kit don't turn out the way you want, you can sale the kit and use Sylvania SilverStar bulbs.

i have tyc black housing with 6000k hids and the only thing i don't like about it is the cut off line, it's not sharp. but the visibility with the hid kit is good, IMO. here are some pics...
