Let's check out book time...

Front brakes: 1.3h
Rear brakes: 1.3h
Steering gear: 3.7h
Drum resurface (both): 0.6h
Alignment (front only): 1.1 [4 wheel: 1.6h]
Front Calipers: 0.4h
Total: 8.4h @ average independent shop hourly rate ($90/hr) = $756

Parts...

2 calipers (Honda): ~$200
Steering gear (Honda, sedan): ~$840 (coupe is -$100)
Pads: ~$120
Total: $1260

Parts and Labor Total: $2,016 + tax

Either you robbed this shop or they didn't replace the rack and pinion :lawl:
lmao.

Well I dropped it off at 8 A.M. and it was ready at 3:30 P.M.

I'm pretty sure the rack and pinion wasn't OEM. I know the brake pads and calipers were OEM.

Plus I've been going there since I had my '93 Accord back in 2006 for everything so maybe they gave me a "homie" discount? hahaha.:lawl:

you know how much work there is to install a new r and p.. its a *****, would pay someone else to do it and save me a huge headache. 200 is not bad at all, but if you have the time and know how, do it.

Grease would not be a steering rack. The rack only contains power steering fluid, which is a reddish brown (a good sign would be to look in the reservoir to see if there's new fluid in there).

The grease is probably coming from the inner CV boot on the axle, the only place on the car where grease is know to just sling all over the place.

I know this is old but I'd rather post here.....i raised my car to look for suspension noises that im having and i grabbed my wheel and i could turn my wheel about half inch without my steering wheel actually moving...im guessing this is my rack n pinion...but would a bad rack and pinion make noises? when im on a stand still if i jerk my wheel left and right i here clunks....i just replaced inner/outer tie rods, upper/lower balljoints and i have coils.... is this my R n P?

i think what most of you don't understand about alhambra, and the cities surrounding it, is that it is densely populated with hondas, especially accords, and not to be racist because i am chinese myself, is that asians work for cheap. when i got my rack and pinion fixed it ended being 225? with a 1 year warranty. but on the other hand those in alhambra area know of any good place to fix a wiring problem for my a/c?
