so last january my '00 coupe was completely destroyed by an '09 F150 with a 6 inch lift on 35s, with a massive little bull bar on the front, lol. i was backing up as he came around the corner in the school parking lot, and we collided.
i wish i still had the pictures.
the damage - taillights crushed, trunk bent, rear bumper massacred, and rear passenger side quarter panel demolished. basically my taillights were sitting about even with the center of my trunk.

so after an agonizing month and a half of the alleged "6-8 day" repair, i finally got my car back. it looked amazing, and still does.
owner of cockrells said he didnt like the lines of the bumper matching up with the fenders, so he would get me a new bumper.
so a week or two later, that was taken care of.

well last weekend i was at charlie's house, going to buy his rear lip, to begin my oem lip kit.

the lip did not fit at all. after sitting flush with the bumper, there existed about a 3 to 4 inch gap on each side of the wheel well.
yet it fit perfect on his rear bumper.

could the lip be the problem, or could it be that my bumper wasnt replaced with an OEM bumper?
please help me.

"a massive little bull bar" How is that possible? lol

What did you mean by this:

"he didnt like the lines of the bumper matching up with the fenders, so he would get me a new bumper."

Most shops don't replace your car with OEM parts unless you demand it, or your insurance company has specified.

I would place you and charlie's bumpers side by side and compare. Have any photos?

Well there is a bit of custom work in making these lips fit 01-02 coupes, so I'd ask him about alterations.

Compare your bumpers side by side, I'm almost positive yours is not Honda Genuine (if it is there will be a part# on the inside somewhere).

Yeah there may have to be alterations. The 01-02 is different from the 98-00. Same thing up front because when i got my foglights they where for an 01-02 so I had to make some small modifications to make it fit the 98-00 bumper. Good luck

NO alternations were made. I know for a fact. The gap was like an inch on each side of the bumper.

I also was there and I tried on his modded oem front lip on my aftermarket 01-02 bumper and it fit horribly. Charlie's was OEM and it fit like a charm!

wait so is ur car an 98-00 or a 01-02? for the 98-00 coupe, it should fit fine, you'll have to screw the little tabs into ur bumper if the rear lip is an OEM and not a rep. as for getting it on an 01-02 bumper, you have to sag it down a bit because the lip itself is too sort.
