Hi all, what I'm looking for is really random but I did a brief search in this forum and didn't find anything around what I was looking for. All my life I've never really liked the clicking sound the car makes when the turn signal light is blinking and the other day started wondering whether this sound is made mechanically or electronically. I haven't done any research but am looking into seeing how I might be able to get rid of this sound...anybody have knowledge/experience?

Its your flasher unit up under the dash that makes the sound. To swap it you would have to find one with the same specs and fitment, which is likely pretty limited. Maybe a newer Accord would have an option, if its even any quieter. You'd have to find and compare flashers to your OEM.

I replaced my OEM flasher unit with an LED flasher, which isn't any quieter.

You might wanna look around on Vleds.com for the particular electronic flasher.

I think I remember there were a few silent flashers, when I was looking for a led flasher to get rid of the hyper blinking issue.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Hadn't heard the term flasher before so that might help on my search. Sil2DrV6 thanks for the reference, I'll have to check my car to see what may be compatible there.

Speaking of turn signals, I am in a 2014 Dodge Avenger while my Accord is in the shop. Going all the way up or down on turn signal lever is normal but they added a special feature for turn signal when switching lanes. On our Accords we need to hold the lever down to signal on lane change but on this rental, a tap up or down will make it blink three time then turn off. At first thought it was a Deception but realized it was just a feature of the car.

Oh, BTW when they told me I would be getting a Dodge Avenger I asked them if they had Dodge Transformer. No luck.

^The Altima my wife and I rented for driving to Florida last summer did that too. Nice feature, I always give 3 blinks in my car so it was a natural transition. haha

That car was horrendous though, seats were uncomfortable, rear visibility was so bad you had to turn 240 degrees over your right shoulder to see if anyone was in your blind spot, motor had no power, and the CVT transmission was just embarassing. Plus it's fugly.

I think I remember there were a few silent flashers, when I was looking for a led flasher to get rid of the hyper blinking issue.

If you take them apart you may find the noise maker. Old ones were mechanical, they always make noise. Some new ones are electronic, no noise, but they have added a bit to make noise. Call it a reminder noise.
