Get a drill, and a wirebrush you can put on the drill to make the job faster and easier. Clean with brake cleaner and some sandpaper on the actual braking surface if you want, the pads will clean that up too anyz

For paint if you want to cheap out just spray them with some black rust reformer paint or bbq black paint.

i used some 80grit sand paper. did it on the entire rotor. although i need to get something to sand the slots nicely. but for the most part it cleaned them up nicely. gonna paint them tomorrow. will post pics then.

I would definitely take it to a shop and get them resurfaced.

with only 2k on the front rotors and the rear being brand new.. im not to worried about it. they havent seen any hard driving and braking so i think ill be okay. ive removed all the rust. and am now painting them. pics to come soon.

Who ever told you those front rotors had only two thousand miles on them was full of ****, you can see the glazing and grooving in the pics.


edit. Especially on the FR rotor.

the process i used:

-sprayed down with WD-40
-wire brushed the slots and any missed areas
-washed with warm water and dawn
-painted with some rust stop.
-heat cured paint in the oven at 350

werd... we already advised him, so it's up to him to do the right thing...i won't be surprised when we see another thread titled "zomg my brakes are shots after 500 miles zomg :crazyrun:" in a couple weeks
