Should you just get a temporary ban?

Would temporary bans be excessive?

Just limit access to posting in the FS section unless you have 100+ posts and have been a member for 1 month.

I sorta agree. I think 100 posts is a little excessive. Keep it at 50, however the addition of the one month rule would be great. A lot of people are signing up just to sell their things.

On another forum that I frequent, the rules are pretty crazy and strict. You need to have 30 post and have been a member for one month. Also, For each F/S thread, theres no bs chat allowed. Only chat relating to the item is allowed. However publicly negotiating or posting your counter offers aren't allowed either. Good rules if you ask me. Here's what it says...

"For Sale threads are not the place for price or suitability comments of any type, nor is it the place for seller testimonials or floggings.

If you are not interested in buying the item then do not post in the thread.

As always public negotiations or counter offers are not allowed, use private communications.

All such posts will be deleted without warning. Habitual offenders will receive special attention."

i think a ban is a bit excessive.

remember, not every 'n00b' isnt here to scam people. They might actually just wanna sell their parts.

100+ post to be able to post a FS thread... anything less than 100 posts, they can buy but not sell

i also like the idea of a redirect to the rules when someone (most likely a noob or someone with less than 50 posts) tries to post a new thread... like slickdeals, they will ask...

"Are you sure this deal has not been posted yet??"
"Have you searched for the deal before posting??"

if prompted with those, I think new members will be more aware of the rules of the forum

sense more people seem to think its excessive, you could make it where people cant even access the subforum without a certain amount of posts and months as members. ...like on high-intensity.org

Lemon still wouldn't be able to have a FS thread. :henry:

That's fine, but they can't just sign-up or not really be here to contribute, just so they can use this community as a way to sell their ****.

I think someone should have a positive rep standing and atleast 50 posts before they can sell anything.
