Beginner section FTW!!! Keeps the noobs in their playpin...

there are alot of people like me for one who got to sites, sign up to just gain information and then dip... I got what i needed, and im out, no need to post anymore.. what it does, not only does it keep FS sections under restrictions, it keeps the need for excessive un-necessary post cluttering up the sections that matters.

We had the issue b4 with noobs posting threads with out searching and its gonna continue no matter what, its gonna keep reoccuring through out the whole forum. What you can do with the beginner section is you can have them expire after a month or 2, and delete them, or you can delete them in bulk. Keeps New post and repeated threads in check, keeps the forum free of clutter where it is needed. And what WE can do as active members is participate and help them out where needed. Some new guys know more than we know.

With this setup, it allows new members to search the forum where ever needed to get their questions but if they had a question (which most dont read the rules) they can create it there

There is a problem with this. What designates a Noob, someone with hardly any posts? I've seen people with 1,000+ posts make noob statements. You can have a honda certified mechanic on here that just joined and are we going to classify them as a noob?

With this suggestion you made, there would need a hell of a lot more MODS in here to cover all these areas and read every single post that is posted on here.

Easy fix, restrict the access to FS and WTB sections to users with 100+ posts. Then they can't post threads in the sections, and no one has to stay "busy" locking threads and banning people over nonsense. N00bs don't read the rules, and therefore, don't follow said rules. Banning them for their own ignorance is just mean.

My response to this would be the we (mods/admin) will just have to police peoples posts more closely. Yeah, it'll be a little more work, but that's what we signed up for.

Well no, what it does is it keeps people coming back meaning that if you have posted 50+ than you have made the effort to be a part of the community. Just because you have alot of knowledge about cars, you are still a noob (which im pretty sure we all know it means NEW PERSON) to the community/forum

and i think that it would make things alot easier on the moderators because now they dont have to search eveythread and read whats a stupid comment and whats not. Honestly, i love the CB7 tuner layout because in their beginner section says in big bold letters "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION" which people can post "what is a CAI?" or what ever but after the thread is unused after a month or so, its deleted. and then we wont have those stupid threads cluttering up the general chat/mechanic area

Im tellin you, take a quick peak at their layout, or PM a moderator and ask them how it is cuz it works out really well. I think CBRforum.com uses the same layout

i don't think banning will work for this at all...because 90% of the people that post threads without reading the rules have like 1 post...how are they gonna know that they will be banned for doing it if they didn't read the rules in the first place....then not only do we have to close the thread...we have to ban them too?...sounds like more work...

maybe have them be available to VIEW FS threads but not post...

that way, if theyre interested in buying sometihng, they could always PM the seller?
