So I never go cheap on pads cause I feel as though they may save my life one day and I have heard great things about Akebono but when I got these in the mail I noticed horrible quality control...WTF!!!!

Should I call TireRack and B them out and have to wait for replacements if they even send them or give me the run around or just install these bad boys and hopefully they will smooth out and not affect anything?!?!??!

one is a minor chip but the other one is pretty deep...I'm just pissed cause they were all thrown in a box with a little TINY lube so I'm sure they were slamming on each other and chipped.

And when I was reading the direction about the pads they were talking about the rear of the pads having adhesive but these have none...I'm pissed and confused now...now sure if I should install or not

Just install them; most pads come inside a box and i've never seen a pair that has been bubble wrapped or inside some sort of foam.

If you really feel like it though, just call up TR, describe the damage and sent pics if necessary and i'm sure they'd probably replace them and even pay for shipping back. With my luck with them however (and RockAuto) they just told me to keep the part and re-send a new one.

They are fine, it won't do anything to the rotor and it will wear normally after some use. It's a composite slapped on a metal plate, brake pads are not the most refined parts in the world.

When I got my pads they were packaged pretty well. Yours look like they'll work normally, but I'm definitely no expert on the topic... so *shrug*

I really doubt they will inhibit my braking abilities if any but when you pay top dollar for street pads you want them to be properly packaged and looking.

Let's see how TireRacks costumer service is...You guys may not like my "review" of these pads!

OH NOES!!!!

That will cause all kinds of camber issues and mess up the alignment and cause CEL's..........

Ok...so now that the drama is over....as much as I can understand that the pads didn't come wrapped in kitten fur and placed in goose down pillows, I am sure they will be just fine, and after a few weeks of driving(if that), those chips will probably not even be noticeable.
