Hi everyone I am new to this forum and I had a quick question/need advice.

- I have a 2001 Honda Accord V6 Coupe w/ Sony CDX-GT610UI, a couple of months ago I purchased these speakers:

Polk Audio db651
and
Polk Audio db691

- Well to keep the long story short I already blew the rear 6x9's and the 6 1/2's are holding up ok but what I want to know is if the rear deck speakers are worth having?
Should I just buy a sub w/amp? or do 6x9's really make a difference with a sub and amp.

i'm not quite sure how a setup would sound with just 6.5's up front and a subwoofer. i know people always run components up front, amplify them, run no speakers in back, and have a sub. it really depends if you care about your back seat passengers

i have alpine type s components in the front and type s 6x9 in the back amplified and the my two cvr's in the trunk and if i cut the back speakers its horrible they make a huge difference to sound the back is most of where the loudness of your system comes from...

Running just front speakers and a sub will be just fine. I think it sounds better personally... I have some Boston SX60s Comps in the front and 12" RD Audio Sonance V1 and it sounds great!

Also, if you take out your rear 6x9s more bass will come through since the speakers won't be there to block the sound..:nutswinger:

In my experience more air flows through the ski hatch door. But removing the rear speakers wouldn't hurt. I've closed the center arm rest and turned the bass all the way up...and the airflow from the rear deck is abysmal. The whole idea of having better speakers up front and removing the rear is to set the sound stage correctly. For example when you go to a live concert, the music is coming from the front of you and not the rear. Some people swear by rear fill and there are those that actually care about the rear speakers. It's possible to have rear fill and pretty much not hear it at all unless you sit in the back seat. I think you will be happier down the line if you get a sub and amp, later adding an amp to the front speakers if needed.
