I posted most of the 'before' pictures I could think of taking before I actually got the parts for the battery relocation, and here's where the SRI-related pictures are going.
Needless to say, the lesson I've learned here is that 'Universal' means there's extra work and research that needs to be done.
For someone like me, who's all about research and plans on an automotive career, it's a minor inconvenience. To anyone else, it may be more trouble than it's worth for an impulse buy.
In any case, here's what I've got:
One reason why I want to change the thing in the first place...
The junction of airway and intake manifold. I'm guessing the tube going in the front is the breather hose, since it connects to the same chamber I pour my oil into...
And this must be a MAF sensor or something. The Haynes manual sucks.

Here's a good look at the tube itself.
Where the tube and sensor connect. I'm guessing that it would logically make sense to connect the sensor ahead of the breather tube, so the plastic grommet's for the sensor and the aluminum tube is for the breather.
And this is about how much will have to come off before it will fit with the huge-*** filter shown
