Even for road racing, FWD cars can be staggered. I will be running 255 in front and 225s in the rear, possibly wider in front on my EF Civic race car.

Reason being is that on a FWD car you are asking your front wheels to stop, steer, and accelerate the car, not to mention that the usual front biased weight distribution on a FWD car doesn't help lower lap times...

If you want to stager your tires, wide up front. We don't drive V-dubs here... :p

Thank you, finally someone who uderstands this concept. Just look at all the serious time attack civics out there, there tire sizes and sometimes wheel sizes are staggered. For example, look at this video of the Spoon EK9.

Stop the video at 13seconds and look at the tire sizes.

ok, if you plan to road race or drag race then yes a staggered set up would be best. Of course the wider tires will be in the front.
But remember, for the best performance, you should go with a wider wheel & tire. Not just a wider tire.

Now for a daily driver, other than looks I don't see a purpose in a staggered set up.
