subs turned off

so it is about 85 degrees outside right now and i was cruising thru town bumping my tunes and then all of a sudden my subs shut off... so i put my cd player to standby for a minute and turned it back on and the subs worked again. i remember my subs did this last summer to.... I never had this problem in the winter, but is it because they are over heating in my trunk?

Yea, sounds like your amp maybe slipping into "protect mode". Try lowering your rear seats and opening windows...

hmm i was actually thinking about lowering the seats and buying one of those fans that hook up the the cig lighter and having the fan blowing on the amp...... but opening the windows is a cheaper alternative!

where is your amp mounted? most likely it is overheating and shutting down... especially likely if you have a are bridging any channels on the amp

i mounted my amp on top of my box..... i wasnt in a creative mood when i installed it......

I guess I meant is there free airspace around the amp for heat to dissipate or not. Your amp is overheating, you have to solve the heat issues if you want to fix it. If it already has enough air space around it, then you either need to try and put a fan somewhere or buy a better amp. I would just go for a better amp lol. Or if you are running a 2 channel amp bridged down (which is usually the case w/ overheating) try running each sub off a different channel

I personally would take it off the box as well.

Use some Velcro or something and put it on the carpet of the trunk away from the box.
just put the hook side of the Velcro on the sub and it will hook to the carpet.

The only reason I suggest that is because if you have a cheap amp and you're running a lot of watts you might rattle the internals.

i have this amp and im running it to the diamond d3 10' subs.

this happend to me last summer when it was like 105degrees. they shut off then cooled down then turned back on. but it happend again and i looked and my power wire hooked up to my battery with the fuse in it melted lol.
