swapping in 8GA dampers

today i looked at my friend's '08 v6 sedan and when i went to pop the hood open, it lifted up all by itself, unlike our hoods with the dampers where you have to push up the hood till it stops.

i noticed that the main part of the damper, the black cylinder, was on top, and on our cars, it's on the bottom. I think that's what makes it lift up.

what i wanted to ask was...do you think those dampers would swap right in and work right into our 6ga's?

So, if you pop the hood from the car, the hood fully opens by itself?

Or, is it like all other hood dampers and it finishes opening it for you after halfway?

good idea but i only open up my hood maybe 2-3 times a month.
