Sorry to bring this post back from the dead, but I thought it would be better than creating a new one. So here is the UPDATE, I finally got the car into the shop last nite (I owe one of my Uncles BIG TIME) and of course the car is running fine no problems what so ever :bash: . So I'm talking to my other uncle about what the problem could be while we are sitting there waiting for the car to do something besides idleing correctly. The first thing he tells me is he is 90% certain I don't have bent valves :stupid:  :furious: :D . Now for the logical part which obviously I don't have any logic, bent valves are mechanical so I would have a rough idle, backfires, and missing when the car is cold or hot. DOH!!!! I'm stupid. So once I get the battery all charged up, should be ready when I get off of work I will be :driving: around the streets of canton. I guess I will be relentlessly beating on my car to get it to act up because if my 2nd theory is correct then my IACV is on the fritz. The only way I can get it to act up is for the car to be freakin insanely hot. At the garage I tried everything to get it to act up and there is only so much you can do with no load on the engine. Today should be an interesting day, I removed my intake from the TB so my exhaust is going to be loud as hell :D but its the only quick way to test if the fast thermo valve has miss aligned itself. So the next question is what do I do with all this money I have saved??? The ITB's on ebay look nice but the auction ends too soon or which Mugen wheels should I buy M7's or the nice MF8's that are on HT. Maybe I'm counting my chickens before they have hatched though. So much to do in such a short amount of time.

Doesn't work that way, the fast thermal valve sits inside the IACV and the only way to test if its miss align/broken is when the engine starts with its irratic idle you cover the hole infront of the throttle plate and it should go away, that or unplug the IACV. If the car idles normally thats what the problem is, if it doesn't I'm back to square one, cause I have checked all the vaccum hoses twice and there is no check engine light.

Cut me some slack it took me 3 months to finally work on the damn thing to get an idea what may or may not be wrong with it. I'm far from being out of the woods yet, in a couple of days I will know more.
Can't hang out this weekend, I will be in Dayton, or my mom will kill me for not being home for Christmas

Happy Holidays to you too, I'm hoping the car will be done this week. Diagnose the problem tonight and hopefully have parts by Friday.

Can you check your IACV with a mulitmeter on a honda? I know you can on other cars. Atleast to make sure it's not shot, a simple reistance test works on alot of cars. I haven't taken my throttle body apart on my honda but on other cars, i don't see how it can "miss align" itself very easily. The whole thing seems strange to me though, from the code, to your suspesions. Have you really gone through and meathodically tested everything that could go wrong? Especially from the CEL code? It seems like you are all over the board in you suspensions, that's why i asked.

Suspensions???? Do you mean suspicions? The reason I'm all over the board is its hard to for me to recreate and verify what is wrong with my car. But last nite I'm pretty sure I have the situation under control. I'm not throwing a CEL at all well except for when I disconnected the IACV but thats a whole nother story which defiantely fixed the surge, but I didn't have an idle LOL. I have been searching honda tech for days now. This the best thread I have except mine is do the exact opposite. There is good pic of what the IACV looks like inside. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1117812 Seems that the fast thermo valve is the cuprit and the only way to fix this is clean it out, replace or adjust it(sorry I used "miss aligned" and should have said it moves out of the correct adjustment, the shaft and valve move within the part).

*UPDATE w/pics eventually from Drew*

Well my car was fixed for a whole 3 mins :D. But as I was coming back to the shop my car kept stalling. With only 1500ft or so for the car to get into the shops parking lot my car died never to restart again :furious: . Luckly Drew wasn't far behind me to push my lump off the street  Big Props man!!!! After about an hour with a jump box and some jumper cables I couldn't get the engine to spin. So my uncle came with the trailer and we towed the ride the short distance to the shop. I franticly went to work to figure out what went wrong, pulled the valve cover checked the valves are all there. My uncle checks the cams they aren't locked up but the whole engine still is. I check alternator and PS pumps both turn freely. So my worst fears have come true  I'm pretty sure I spun a bearing (H22's are notorious for this)DOH. The engine is totally locked up and I'm positive that its not hydrolocked. So looks like I'm pulling the engine and tearing the whole thing down. Well since I have to do all of this, I guess I need to put some extra special stuff inside the engine :D Not exactly what I wanted to do during my winter vacation but its gotta be done. I should change the title of this thread to my H22 is dead.

Haha, yeah I was glad to be there to help man. I cant resist not being around your car lol its addicting I think. And when I saw you on Fulton, I just turned my *** around so that I could meet up with you. And then BAM you're stopped at a damn light and we had to pull it off the road lol! good times man, but I wont tell them what you're putting in to the motor  So if you're ever stuck like that and need a lift or anything like that, just give me a ring I'll pick your *** up in a case like that

I cant wait to see the break down, so you need to call me when you get everything together and start taking **** apart :afro: Sorry bout the mess, but hey look at this way, you're putting better in, and you wont be disapointed when it's all done.
