Throttle position sensor bad?? (Video inside)

I have an 01 Dx Auto. The car idles high when cold and fluctuates between 1 and 2K rpm when warm. I changed the IAC and gasket with no improvement. Today I cleaned the egr and checked the tps voltage. It seems to be out of spec. Before I buy another one I wanna make sure it will solve or help my problem. Here is a short video I made of me checking the voltage.

The TPS is not the issue. The voltages that the video shows are within spec. If the idle is fluctuating, its most likely a vacuum leak somewhere.

Have you bled the cooling system since cleaning the IACV??
An air bubble can cause the same issue.

Just happened to me, had to get it fixed. The IAC was half the problem during fluctuating idle, second half was the vacuum leak. Honda was able to take care of it for me since I was not home with the car

Ok, today I read the engine light codes and this is what I got -

12 P1491 EGR Valve Lift Insufficient Detected
12 P1498 EGR Valve Lift Sensor High Voltage

41 P1166 Primary HO2S (No. 1) Heater System Electrical
41 P1167 Primary HO2S (No. 1) Heater System
(I just put a brand new direct fit denso o2 sensor, not sure why I got this code)

P0301 71 Misfire Cyl. 1 Or Random Misfire
P0302 72 Misfire Cyl. 2 Or Random Misfire
P0303 73 Misfire Cyl. 3 Or Random Misfire
P0304 74 Misfire Cyl. 4 Or Random Misfire

Another thing I forgot to mention, every time I let go of the gas it feels like the automatic clutch is not releasing right away. It slows the car down for a second or two then releases. I can watch the rpm drop for a second as this happens. Its not the engine stalling either. Not sure if this is related to my other problems.

Sounds like you EGR valve is bullocks, I have one, pay for shipping and its yours.

Did you reset the codes after installing the new o2 sensor? If so, you may want to check the wiring. If not, do so. That light will pop back up immediately if it is a problem.

And as for the misfires, Have you checked or changed the plugs recently? That's the first place Id look for misfires. If you haven't replaced them in a while, do so. They're cheap.



That is an interesting issue you're having. I can see why you might think the TPS is acting up. The problem with the test you performed is that you cant really tell what the TPS looks like on a digital meter. You need an analog meter, or an oscilloscope to see what the TPS is doing as it sweeps.

Clear the codes for now and see what comes back.

check all vacuum lines, and jump on that EGR from drift
they are expensive as hell
junkyards want 40 for em

Clean out your EGR system first off mate, I had missfires and threw a CEL when my one got blocked. (least with the Euro R it's easy to clean!!)

Give that a go, reset your ECM and bobs your mothers brother!

Not too sure if that above link applies to your car or not, but if it does you could clean it and be running great within an hour or so!

a quick thread jack...

just put a throttle body spacer in, and i have a vacuum leak. i used the crappy TB gaskets that came with the kit. should i replace with 2 OEM gaskets?
