Oh my god! What a life saver! Thanks for posting the detailed instructions. The Haynes manual was a bit confusing and ambiguous. I think my Honda man can easily figure this out now. He has done plenty of B16, B18 installs but none with balance shafts.

Can you get away with torquing the crankshaft pulley to spec without using those special tools? Also, can anyone clarify what step 7 is for? Just to keep the balance shaft belt (stablilized) from moving? I guess i will have to go find this bolt at a hardware store..6x100 mm

The special tool is very handy! If you have a decent impact, that's about the only way to torque the bolt down tight enough.

Step 7 says to clean the balancer belt pulleys :lawl: The 6x100mm is important and it can be tricky to find the hole in the balancer shaft. I'm still not convinced it exists, the last F23 tbelt job I did I kept spinning the balance shaft feeling for the hole and just found a place on the shaft that prevented it from turning, it didn't necessarily go into a hole.

This whole time I was thinking that the balance shaft had female threads for this bolt, but it doesn't say anything about tightening it. So it's acting like a pin.

Had trouble finding the hole huh? Yeah, we've all been there before.

So using a impact wrench to put it back on wont hurt it? I have a torque wrench capable of 250ft/lbs, however I don't think I have that much in me. lol

If you don't have anything to hold the crank you can't use a torque wrench. I've torqued a few (using the holding tool) and zipped a few with an impact. Neither have had issues.

And yes Nick, it's hard to fit such a long bolt into a tiny hole :naughty:
