My manifold which comes in tomorrow, the 2009 Acura Tl SH-AWD manifold, is made of magnisium. I'm not sure how I can give this a little bit of color. Do I powdercoat it or do I paint it. If i poweder coat it, I would use dormant purple. If I paint it I want to use House of Color Kandy Purple. My question is which path do I take between painting it or powder coating it and if i paint it can I use HOK Kandy Purple or HOK Pavo Purple?

I would make sure that the person doing the powder coating knows about magnesium. I know alot of my old bike parts were magnesium but I would be worried about changing the grain structure of the metal making the manifold brittle.

In terms of the actual piece, I would go with powder coat. It is something that can get various types of debris on it and powder coat will be more durable.

Non functionally, I think the paint you want to use will look better. If you are careful, it will work. It will scratch more easily and a single chip will ruin the look, plus be a costly fix.

Sooo, I say powder coat, makes more sense for something in the engine bay.
