As much as I love the wittiness of my fellow 6ga members, I will provide the answer he is looking for, so as to make sure he does not try to figure it out for himself. (again)
A quick google search yields:
200hp
195 lbs torque
0-60 of 8.0 seconds
1/4 mile of 16 seconds
and top speed of 140mph.
obviously there will be slight variations due to weather or tire conditions, but on a whole this is what your car should have been capable of when it was new and under perfect conditions.
Well, thanks for that info and also to the few ppl who were helpful. I am curious though where you found that information.
140 seems out of the cars capabilities but I saw the youtube video of a guy doing it and claiming it was stock. So maybe in peak condition it can, and I would think you probably would have to remove the top speed governor.
But I can see that the car should easily be capable of 120mph/193kph. My top speed reflects the condition of my engine I suppose.
I know there is some risk involved in going such high speeds on open roads. But I did all I could to minimize it. I used a dead stretch of straight highway which had 15 foot sound barriers which minimized chances of any living thing crossing my path, put my high beams on and stayed in the center lane. But I do think it is funny how there is such a fine line between fast and too fast. I often go 130-140km on the highway and occasionally I get passed while going 140. I also once was passed by an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) while going a steady 135. I guess he was going 140. I think he looked over at me but decided I wasn't driving too aggressively or dangerously and didn't bother with me. I also passed by a cop with a radar gun at 130 and was not stopped. Even the police are not overly concerned with those speeds. Most will only ticket you at 130 if they "feel" like it, to fill quota, or if you are also making aggressive maneuvers at the same time.
Some may think me an idiot for ever going 180, but I see more dangerous maneuvers done nearly every day. Cutting someone off at speeds of 120, weaving, texting while driving. That's what I consider stupid. But everyone has their own opinion. I take driving very seriously and understand that automobiles are in many ways more deadly than a gun.
Anyways, I was hoping for more information on the straight line performance of the car but mostly got a lot of insults, bickering and other crap. I'm kind of disappointed but not overly surprised.
But just to be clear going over 150 on open highway is a risky proposition, and if you "must" do it then take as many precautions as possible. There is a reason that going over 150 is a major offense in Ontario. I personally am most concerned when passing another car in a lane right beside me if the difference in speed is high. Because if you are passing at 130 and the other car is going 90 and strays into your lane you better have some open space to evade into or have some amazing braking ability.
I wish we had an Autobahn type highway in Canada but that would involve stricter licensing and harder driving tests. But I'm all for it.
