I didn't start this thread and I'm not trying to take over either but I'm going the turbo route also. I"m going to do it using the the G23 setup. I'm not too sure how reliable the g23 swap is and once i go boost how much better it would be either. I"ve had my accord since 01, in 06 it got sent to be build and never got done right. now i got it back in 2011!!! i will never sell her lol.. i wanna boost a g23 as a reliable daily. A good tune is the most important thing right? what do you have to worry about the most in maintaining a boosted car?

Just change your oil every 3k miles. It should be no different than a stock car if done right. Evos and STIs don't require any crazy maintenance.

And yes a good tune is crucial. As long as everything is sound mechanically, you need some way of controlling the engine, which is where the tune comes in. How much fuel and ignition timing need to be applied to the motor depending on load and rpm.

Anyone know about the compatibility with an ECU chipped for an s200 working for an s300? Or should I just snag the whole setup and use the s200? Seems like a good deal.

Argh.... I'm extremely disappointed that the Turbo-Kits.com kit is 50% junk from the thread of this conversation. I feel the same way that Zach does for the sake of us who really do just want to order a box and have stuff ready to assemble....this puts a screeching halt to that thought.

I'd like to purchase something comparable to what is listed with the T-K.com kit mostly because it's in the 2500 range (sponsors should be reading this), heck I did some rough math based on what Akoutmos mentioned in the previous thread and I was already up to $3,600 before shipping and I'm sure there's a bunch of parts missing that people are being forgotten/overlooked and if anyone can think of things I'm putting together a spreadsheet for a basic parts-only turbo setup for the F23 I'd love to get this posted with as much data as possible cause I'm sure I'm not the only one that's in this boat (plus, I'm not one for surprise costs).

^ the list is more of a road map. Read the whole post as i say it's for more higher budget builds. I also mention cheaper alternatives and how to cut costs a bit

I know I'm a little late on this one but please listen to everything akoutmos is saying. We both know because we own this kit. DO NOT BUY IT! You say you want to buy the kit and then replace everything. Well that's exactly what I'm doing now and I'm basically only using the BOV, intercooler and piping from the kit everything else is garbage. The way I see it, I paid 3 grand for those 3 things and some knowledge. Waste of money if you ask me. Learn from our mistakes. Take our advice, we are smart.

as mentioned several times above, this "kit" is sheer garbage. If you want to waste $3G, go to Vegas instead cuz that way at least you'll have fun memories.
Trust me, i'm the king of blown motors up in this *****! its not fun when it happens.
Anywho, akoutmos gave you the best advice in regards to this and it couldn't have been explained any better. Only thing is, spoolinperformance isn't that great of a company and their customer service sucks. I would suggest go to a fabricator and get one made for your needs.
Goodluck

There is a local seller selling a p72 chipped for an s200 + s200 unit + OBDII to OBDI conversion harness for $470. I researched a little and it seems like they both handle boost. Question: can a p72 that's chipped for an s200 be used with an s300, or are the connections different? Would the s200 suffice for good boost control? I'm not baller enough for an AEM EMS yet. :p

Because then you'll be boss dog and have lots of friends.
s200's ok but its out of date since all the new R&D is going into the s300. check the hondata website. I remember reading somewhere on there that you can send it to them and have them upgrade it to s300 for alot cheaper then you'd have to pay for it new. I wouldn't use any other tuning software on a honda. IMO it hands-down the best. I've used both AEM and S300 and other then the way the software is setup on your computer there isn't much difference. as a tuner AEM just has too much **** going on for me, s300 is alot simpler to work with. but seeing as how you have no experience even putting a turbo build together I'd assume your not going to be tuning the car yourself. Best bet would be fine a reputable tuner in your area and talk to them about your options.

I have only owned factory turbo cars but I have installed turbochargers on a few Honda's over the years, as long as everything is done right, your reliability should be that of any stock turbo car, which usually are not "Honda" reliable but definitely DD worthy, maybe "Ford" reliable.

Understand that even well built kits (that don't exist for our cars) are usually just a great starting point. I installed a Greddy kit on an Integra and it had no blow off valve, a FMU, and the engine managment was not great. It worked out the box but ended up being pretty heavily modified over time. I can only imagine how a lesser kit would be.

My last point is simple but significant. Anything that scares/intimates you about building your own kit is the perfect reason to learn more before you take the plunge. Unless you have a great shop by you, you will be the one who has to diagnose problems and understand what everything does. I wouldn't let more than 2 shops touch a turbo'd car and neither are in my area.

thanks for the info guys this is good to know and will save me some heartache down the line, unfortunately there aren't *any* tuner shops in my area, at least not less than a 45 minute drive. Kinda makes me debate on just going H22, but the thought of a turbo just seems like the smarter way to go...Mmmmm turbo
