Ok so I searched and found my answer, now does the ULEV ECU inhibit the tuning capabilities if I were to go turbo? I know it has the wideband o2 already so normally that would be a bonus, just wondering about the ECU itself.

Do you mean can the ECU be re tuned? like a re flash? i believe so. My friend cg6boi claims to have his ecu re flashed...

Your "Whispering Eye"
You would be throwing CEL codes out the ying yang

EDIT: In order to tune properly you would have to go OBD I, most people use the p28 chip.

I got yelled at for asking about the ULEV in my previous thread but posters on this forum say its exhaust related, some say its ECU related, some say its intake manifold related, every answer is different and there is no 100% right answer that I have found thus far from searching all last night and this morning.

I just want to know what would be a problem with turbocharging a ULEV motor because I asked about swapping my engine to a normal f23 vtec motor and also get bashed even though I searched and found various different threads with various answers.

Then I would not be able to pass inspection if I went to OBD I , with the p28 chip I would not have to run a jumper harness right?

With a username like yours, coming from Wuster, and a Red Sox hat as your avatar you should be LOVED!!! Not bashed.

Sorry I don't know what the difference would be, but just wanted to get that out to ya.

I do know that if you were to go OBD1 and P28 you WOULD need a jumper harness and WOULD NOT be able to pass Massachusetts inspection.

I've had both regular f23 and ulev f23. ECU, Primary o2 sensor, and Exhaust manifold are for sure different. I don't know about the intake manifold though, but I'm pretty sure they're the same.

Crossing this thread because of ULEV 5spd ECU research, I can confirm that strictly mechanical engine-wise, a1 and a4 same except for valve cover. Everything above I can confirm is different plus the cat. converter and valve cover. IM is same as Victor suggests.

Having the wideband primary O2 sensor is a bonus, just more expensive and to replace and for me, harder to go from a ULEV auto ECU to ULEV 5spd ECU as I'm getting ready for a swap.

Since it's ULEV, the ECU will expect lower emissions and since I have DC headers instead of the ULEV manifold and a hi-flow OBX cat. instead of the ULEV cat, I have CEL but after an OBD scan it's only a secondary O2 sensor issue which means I just need a defouler on that and should be CEL free.

For defouler reference to stay CEL free, best reference I've found:
