Update Video MB Quart

I decided to go with the MB quart pwe-352. I thought it was made overseas but it has "made in the usa" on the magnet. I made a little video showing my car flexing. This is probably the last thing thing I do to the car as I plan to sell it soon. 04 GTO here I come.

My RE 15 flexing the windshield

****************UPDATES ON BOTTOM OF PAGE 2********************

Stereo - Sumas Media SM-310T $78 - Walmart website
Front door speakers - Powerbass 6.5" - $35 - Ebay
Rear speakers - Clarion 3.5" - $20 - Amazon
Amp - Autotek 2000w and Cadence 4ch for door speakers
Sub - RE audio srx 15"
Box - Atrend 4.2 cu ft spl ported

I purchased my 3/4 mdf 2 weeks before I got the sub so that I would not be in a rush to build the box. I built it to spec using the rockford fosgate site. I used a sh*t ton of 1.5" screws pre drilled and countersunk along with liquid nail. I also added bracing on the corners and about 75% of the front board is 1.5" thick. I used wood filler to fill all the holes in the front, sanded, primed than painted with flat black rustoleum. I printed out some RF decals on my pc than painted them flat aluminum. Overall it was well worth the time I spent. I also put a led strip in the trunk to shine on the box and sub.

A friend of mine gave me the sony amp. It's enough to push the sub but runs really hot. I plan to get a kenwood 1000w mono, they're only $100!! I used my pyle crossover that i've had for about 8 years now. Still works great and has bass boost which made the rockford come alive.

And finally the new deck. Oh boy, I already know i'm going to hear some trash talkin on this thing. I really like it though. $78 from walmart site. It's a dvd player, touch screen, usb and sd port, rca inputs and outputs, and I can hook up my plug and play game system which stays in the glove box when not in use. I love old schools video games. I have a one year warranty on the deck and I figure if it last that long it was worth the money.

I'm very happy with the end result. The sub really hits for only 200w. It's a good budget build that fits my needs perfectly.

UPDATE 10/17/10

I changed my bass blockers to 470uf and added some sound dampening.

I added a set of clarion 3.5" in the rear door and covered with fabric.

And changed my amp to an alphasonik pmz6002a 480w rms bridged. Also added a capacitor given to me by a friend.

All this made a really big difference. I didn't realize how much of the music I was missing.

yea, I love it. I just can't get over how hard that sub hits with only about 200w rms pushing it. Its crazy. I had 2 sony 12" 1200w subs with a 2000w amp before this new setup and my one 15 is almost as loud, very close.

yup, i've built a few boxes before. This is probly my best box though. Well worth the time it took to build it. Wiring everything up was the easy part.
