Lemon I used the glass cleaner last night that you sent me. It didn’t hurt my tint and the window looks great! That stuff works and doesn’t streak at all from what I can tell. Definitely better than Windex. I may have to buy more of that from you in the future. Thanks again!

I'm glad you found something that works for you Chris. In the future, you can just buy a gallon of that online. It will be cheaper that way.

Matt, very nice results with the new tool you've acquired. Looks like you got the hang of it by the results you achieved. First mark is improved by 70ish%, and 2nd mark is all gone. Well done!

It was raining really hard today and on the way home it was raining as well so I snapped some awesome pics of how my freshly applied sealant is doing...

For anyone who is interested in what sealant I used, it's by Wolfgang Fuzion.

Thanks! I think if I go over the area again I can completely get rid of the other ding.

Bought some samples of different shades of gray and blue. Did a small test spot with each of them.

Spent my Friday after work polishing and coating two doors. I am very tired at the moment, but I am about to head out for some BoBa Tea.

Before condition was really in bad shape, worse than I'd imagined.

Did a test spot to make sure I was satisfied with the results

One door down, one to go

Both doors completed and coated. The glossiness is back!

Process used:

Wipedown with Optimum No Rinse
Clayed with Nanoskin Medium grade sponge w/ONR as clay lube
Harbor Freight Da/Meguiars M101 compound/Meguiars Microfiber cutting pad
Harbor Freight DA/Menzerna Power Finish/White Foam Pad
Carpro Eraser for wipedown to remove all silicone, and oils from polish prior Opti Coat
Apply Opti Coat

Re: What did you do today Detailing related?

Finally my good friend's wedding is over, and I am relieved of my best man duties, I have some free time again. The message I am trying to get across is "Get Bird Poop Off ASAP". Upon returning from work I found a decent size bird poop on the roof. I cleaned it off safely with good technique, and revealed the damaged that was already done. This happened within 8 hours, combined with hot temperatures that's asking for serious trouble.

Picture of damaged area on my roof.

The temperature of the panel was really hot thanks to the radiant heat from the sun on a nice day. The heat essentially softened the clear temporary and allowed the acid from the bird poop to penetrate through faster than it would have on a cold day without any sunshine.

The roof is OEM clear, but I have polished it and coated it with a coating which is thicker than any wax or sealant you can apply. Even though, the clearcoat have the best protection possible, nothing is impervious to bird poop if left for a long period of time.

I used a paint thickness gauge to measure the total film build on the panel. Healthy readings for OEM clear would range from 80-120 microns. Any panels under 80, you have to take precautions when compounding, and any more than 120 would be really healthy paint.

So I finished up my wheels this weekend. Also fixed a fitment issue with a side skirt, and painted the tops of the hood brackets since you can see them with the spacers in there.

I used Klasse on my CF hood, took some of the white oxidation away and added a bit of its original luster back.

Re: What did you do today Detailing related?

Tried out a bird **** remover that won't remove your wax or sealant.

Subject: A decent size puddle of crap sat on my paint for about 4-6 hrs.

Product: It is a ready to use type of product straight out of the bottle without any diluting.

I let the product sit on the paint for 30 secs. Before lightly picking it up with a MF towel I gave the towel a couple sprays to add more lubrication/cleaning power. First pass:

Second pass as the product is breaking down the bird crap making it easier to dislodge it, and not having to scrape it off causing scratches

Third pass. All gone

Used some quick detailer to do a final wipe down. Quarter was placed to help the camera focus and to spot the location

I got lucky on this area with no bird acid etching, only swirls.

The other spot on my door is another story... Deep etching after bird crap wiped off

After using the most aggressive compound I have and rubbing it by hand this is the result. I will go over it with a machine to see if I can improve it, otherwise it will require wetsanding to level out the paint again.

The lesson bird crap teaches us is to wipe it off ASAP, and do not even let it sit an hour especially in the sun because the radiant heat will help speed up the etching process.

the detailed pics of the bird ****. ewwww:blah:

Didn't take pictures, but finally decided to wash her today since the rain finally left and all the pollen seems to have settled. Used Dawn and Vinegar, and can't believe how much the Vinegar has helped bring out the shine and removed the grime, versus just using nothing but dish soap
