in your opinion would you rather pick up a oem one over ... let's say, a mobil1 or k&n

Here is what I usually do. . . I go to Advance and see what oil filter combo they have on sale. I then usually buy whatever synthetic oil and filter combo the have advertised. EXCEPT, for penzoil or royal purple. Usually the filter they provide in the comba sale is a Purolator One or Mobil 1, or K&N, so I end up using one of those.

OR

I go back to the Honda dealership that I used to be a Service Advisor at and talk to the techs I know or parts guys. They usually are able to hook up a few free OEM filters and some other various fluids.

OR

If I havent been able to get to the store, I'll use some of the $$$ Motul oil we have at the shop and a Subaru Oil filter because we always have them in stock.

If you change your oil regularly, it really doesnt matter what filter you're using. They are all roughly the same, and when in doubt, use an OEM.

Its a Honda. It will run no matter what. Just keep oil in it.

~my 2 Cents.

I have to agree, it really doesn't matter what the fiter is. Most of them run on bypass until the oil gets hot anyway.
I did cut up a few filters to see what was going on inside, but I did it to used filters and with much less swearing.

I'm not very keen on the pure 1 filters after cutting them up. I posted a few pictures here and did some thought exercises / brain ramblings.
I think I liked my Suzuki bike filter the best (purolator version)

Hey, so I was reading some reviews and people said that the newer generation of filters that Honda are producing, the A02 suck. Well, I was looking around at www.handaaccessories.com and I noticed that they actually stock the A01 filters :p. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up for those that still wanna stick with Honda OEM filters. I might not since Amazon provides me with free shipping if I buy Purolators :D.

Changing your oil ontime pretty much nullifies what kind of filter or oil you use. I use mobile one because it lasts longer, thats all.

I've been using Pure Ones, but since Kragen/O'Reilly's started carrying Wix, i've been using them. Both are great, but since there's no Pepboys, i can't get Pure Ones in SF.

Aren't the OEM Honda ones just Fram Filter's?

The newer ones are. They used to use an older one that isn't Fram. I forgot the manufacturer but many have claimed that the quality of the old ones were much better and you can find the old ones on www.handaaccessories.com

No, but I have used royal purple oil and its by far the worst oil Ive ever put in my car. I would the generic Advanced Autoparts oil before touching another bottle of RP.

I doubt they make their own filters though.
