Basically while doing research for my g23 build. I came across a problem very rarely discussed. Basically, I need to keep my car auto. But what should I do about the ECU. I was planning on keeping my f23 auto, but swapping for another isn't a problem. If I swapped to another that has two separate computers, one engine one transmission, such as the h22 prelude, will it fix the problem?
Basically what ECU should I use with which transmission? while keeping automatic of course.

I'm thinkin you need to switch to OBD1 first of all. Why not just do a manual swap while you're tearing the engine apart. staying auto kind of defeats the purpose of building the engine because the auto isn't very efficient at all...

My ankle has screws in it after and an injury. I can walk and everything but if I had to push a clutch all day it would be killing me. My dad taught me how to drive one, so that's not the issue; Its that I can't logically do a manual.

What's the advantage of switching to obd1?

^ OBD1 = unlocked ECU.

From a medical perspective, if you had to use the leg with the screws in it every day for clutch work, then it would actually stimulate osteocytes in your bone to grow more, making a stronger bone matrix than before around the area of damage. If you find ways to avoid using the extremity or stimulating that growth, it may be painful and will not regain its integrity in the long run. This is why after a leg surgery or breaking a bone, they encourage continued weight bearing as soon as possible.

Still don't know what obd1 exactly is. I'll look it up for myself. Haha thanks for the medical stuff. I did rehab stuff for like a month then quite. You're right though, should probably do more strengthening :(

I've heard about doing chipped p28's. Will it allow me to run auto? Sorry about not knowing ECUs. At least not yet. And after reading I'll probably end up doing a obd1 conversion while I'm at the whole thing.

The OBD1 will allow you to tune. I think you can get OBD1 automatic ECUs, but I'm not sure it's possible to tune shift points and I'm pretty sure that it is a lot harder to tune auto OBD1 ECUs.
