Dude, paint those stainless steel brackets. They look kinda tacky, but Form/Function>Looks.

for the second/third time, I said I'm going to paint them.

and they're not that bad looking, they're that zinc coated steel so they have a bluish tint to them. Not quite an eyesore as most diy jobs left unfinished
